Your gift makes a difference The founding principle of the Medical Center Memorial Foundation (RMC Foundation) was to provide access to state- of-the-art health care for our community and residents of Northeast Alabama. In 1978, Dr. Warren Sarrell and Charlie Hamilton brought together a group of like-minded, interested citizens to help address the health care needs in our community. Their answer was the RMC Foundation, which has partnered with the Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center (RMC) for the past four decades to foster essential resources to fulfill the need for additional medical services, facilities and health care education. RMC’s first cardiac catheterization lab was established with seed money from the Foundation. Other funded projects include a mobile health unit, ICU beds, sterilization equipment and chemotherapy chairs. Your gift to the Foundation makes an enormous impact, and the generosity of our donors begins to tell the story of healing people in our own community. Join the RMC Foundation for a special tree-lighting ceremony and holiday cheer at the Oxford Mediplex on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Purchase a tree light in honor or memory of a loved one and in support of RMC labor and delivery services. Enjoy live music, dance performances, cookies and hot cider, and have photos with Santa Claus. Fantastic baskets The annual RMC Basket Raffle invites all hospital departments to create themed gift baskets for a raffle that benefits RMC’s cancer program and patients. This year, in addition to funds for transportation and meals for patients during their course of treatment, proceeds of more than $14,000 will support the purchase of new chemotherapy chairs. Winners were drawn and announced on July 31. “Our RMC family of employees makes this possible,” says Lagina Fillingim, RMC Foundation executive director. “To see everyone come together is fabulous.” Help nurture community health FOUNDATION Thanks to you, the power of philanthropy is making a difference at RMC.
