Regional Medical Center | Thrive for Life | Summer 2018

Louis Bass Regional Medical Center CEO To your health This has been an eventful year in and around Calhoun County. Seeing the community pull together after the tornado in March has been the silver lining of the sheer devastation it brought. It’s been said that in adversity, we know our friends. Certainly, we have witnessed friendships and community in the truest sense of the words. I recently saw a modern-day definition of community that emphasized a feeling of fellowship with others as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests and goals. At RMC, we value our community role as steward of your health care resources. We strive to make the best decisions for programs and services that help you get and stay healthy and for the overall health of our system of care. While the recent closure of RMC Jacksonville still weighs heavily on our minds, we believe that it was the best decision for the communities we serve. And though the RMC board and leadership team had been evaluating feasible options for some time, the timing was right. The timeline of events, including the March tornado, presented an opportunity for RMC to make a long-lasting difference for the important programs and training at Jacksonville State University. Again, perhaps it is the silver lining, the hopeful side of an otherwise difficult situation.
