Regional Medical Center | Thrive for Life | Winter 2018

Fiscal year 2017 highlights: July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017* THE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER (RMC) family grew significantly in fiscal year 2017. Stringfellow Memorial Hospital joined the RMC system in May 2017. With 10 beds on opening in 1938, today the hospital has 125 beds and a long list of services. We believe that our patients and community benefit from a strong and healthy local health care system. We believe that we are healthier together . Fiscal year 2017 saw growth through service enhancements and new facilities as well. The Oxford Mediplex gives residents of Oxford and surrounding communities easier and faster access to several outpatient services. Those needing joint replacement can now take advantage of an enhanced experience with RMC’s Orthopaedic and Joint Center. Oncology services were augmented with a new agreement for UAB to provide full-time, board-certified radiation oncologists. Grayson Associates, with a new outpatient clinic in Anniston, began working with Genesis Senior Emotional Care at RMC Jacksonville and the adult inpatient unit at RMC Anniston, providing psychiatrists for inpatient services. And RMC Anniston was redesignated as Baby-Friendly, after being the first in Alabama to earn the designation in 2011. Every day across our system of physician practices, outpatient services and inpatient care—with 323 beds at RMC Anniston, 104 beds at RMC Jacksonville and 125 beds at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital— employees, physicians and volunteers converge and collaborate to live our mission and pursue our vision of remaining the region’s premier choice for health care. *12 months for RMC Anniston and RMC Jacksonville; 2 months for Stringfellow Memorial Hospital RMC Anniston is accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, is an associate of the UAB Health System Cancer Community Network, is recognized by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee and Hip Replacement and Maternity Care, and is the first Baby-Friendly birthing facility in Alabama.
